LCA Comments on the Inquiry Concerning AI and Copyright

On October 30, 2023, the Library Copyright Alliance (LCA) submitted comments on the intersection of artificial intelligence and copyright. LCA believes existing U.S. Copyright Act is capable of addressing this intersection without amendment. While generative AI has potential to democratize teaching, learning, and research, new legislation is not needed to address copyright issues related to generative AI. The comments also discuss issues related to training material consent, licensing, and voluntary measures.
